Acshun is a social fitness app which allows users to create and join activity teams for mutual support and perhaps a dash of competition, for the sake of sociability and personal fitness. Any user may become a team captain and form a team in the app. Or users may join teams by receiving and accepting an invitation from a captain. Invitations can be sent in-app, via email, or via SMS. Team members can post messages and photos to one another within the app. The team captain can edit the start and end dates for the team and can set the team colors and a custom team "cover" or picture. The app interfaces to the team members' activity trackers such as Fitbit, Moves, or the native Apple health application, and records progress (in steps) toward individual and team goals. Users can see their own progress and that of their team-mates. The app gives virtual awards in the form of "badges", in recognition of teams and individuals who achieve their goals. Teams can optionally have a donation goal, and team members and supporters can make contributions of cash towards the common team "cause". Thus an Acshun team could be used to raise money for a charity, or other worthy goal, such as funding for a school trip. The app keeps track of progress towards the team donation goals. A small fee is deducted from the donations to cover payment processing charges.
